Which airport to choose

Tenerife has two airports and the difference matters. Tenerife South (TFS, Reina Sofía) is about 20 minutes from the house and handles most international flights. That's the easy option.

Tenerife North (TFN, Los Rodeos) is a bit further, around 35-40 minutes, and mainly serves mainland Spain and inter-island routes. If the fare is better, it's no hardship: the drive is almost entirely motorway.

One thing that surprises first-time visitors: the north is often cloudy while the south is sunny. Taking off from Los Rodeos in the mist and arriving here in full sun is perfectly normal.

Do you need a car?

Yes, and we'd rather be straight about it. The house sits in quiet countryside — that's precisely its appeal — but it also means that without a car you'd depend on taxis for everything.

With one, the whole island opens up: the TF-1 motorway is 5 minutes away, and from there the north, Mount Teide or any beach is straightforward.

Hiring at the airport is simplest. Local companies are usually cheaper than the international chains and many include fully comprehensive insurance as standard — welcome on mountain roads.

The final stretch

Here's the honest warning, because we'd rather you knew before arriving than at the end of a track: the last 70 metres from the main road are a gravel lane on a slope.

You can drive right up to the door and there is private parking on the property. We recommend a mid-size or larger car. A very small, low city car will make it, but with more care.

It isn't a mountain track and you don't need a 4x4. It's simply gravel on an incline, like hundreds of others in rural Tenerife.

• Porís de Abona beach — 10 minutes, the nearest local beach
• Tenerife South Airport (TFS) — 20 minutes
• Santa Cruz de Tenerife — 20 minutes, the capital
• Playa de las Américas — 25 minutes, the main resort area

These are real driving times without heavy traffic. The location sits halfway between the tourist south and the capital, which avoids the classic mistake of staying at one end of the island and spending the holiday behind the wheel.

We meet you in person to show you round and answer anything you need. You'll find a small welcome kit with coffee, water and the basics so the first day is easy.

If your flight is delayed or you land late at night, message us on WhatsApp and we'll sort it. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out before 11am, with some flexibility when the calendar allows.
