The climate from January to March, no embellishment
The south-east of Tenerife has one of the mildest winters in Europe. From December to March the norm is days of 20 to 22 °C on the coast, sunshine most days and a sea at 19–20 °C. The estate sits a little above sea level, so nights are cooler: expect 13–16 °C and the urge for a blanket on the terrace while you look at the stars.
Rain is scarce and falls mostly in the north of the island; the south is sheltered by Mount Teide. The odd day of calima (a warm, hazy wind from the Sahara) and the occasional passing front in January are all that break the routine. The sun sets around 6:15 pm in December, nearly two hours later than in Germany or the UK.

A heated pool in the middle of January
This is what sets a winter at the estate apart from any other stay in the south: the pool is heated with solar energy. In winter we set it to 29 °C; the heater starts at ten in the morning and, with sun, the water is ready by early afternoon. Swimming in January while looking across to Gran Canaria, with 21 degrees outside, is one of those things you tell people about when you get home.

A winter for staying weeks, not days
Our winter guests don't come for a week: they come for two, three or four. The house is set up for that. A full kitchen with wine fridge and air fryer, 175 Mbps fibre Wi-Fi for working from the panoramic dining room in the morning, and a pergola with a Kamado grill for dining outside in January.
The minimum stay is 5 nights, and winter nightly rates are the lowest of the year, so a long stay works out better than at any other time. Booking direct means no platform fees.
What to do here in winter
- Go up Teide in the snow. Several times each winter the peak wakes up white. It is little more than an hour from the estate, and seeing snow in the morning and swimming in the pool in the afternoon is very Tenerife.
- Hiking. This is the best season: pleasant temperatures for walking in Anaga, on Teide or in the ravines of the south.
- Whales and dolphins. Seen all year round from Los Cristianos, 25 minutes away.
- Santa Cruz Carnival. In February or March, 20 minutes away: one of the biggest in the world.
- Wine and guachinches. Winter is new-wine season in the Abona wine region, where the estate sits.
- Doing nothing. Breakfast in the gallery looking at the sea, reading by the pool, dinner under the pergola. It is what most people come for.
